Plan Reading

Overview

This two day Plan Reading Course will advance the skills of both novice and veteran Construction Professionals in reading and understanding sets of Construction set of drawings and specifications.

Topics include:

  • The Basics of Plans and Drawings,
  • Construction Basics for Plan Reading,
  • Basic Math for Area & Volume
  • Understanding Site Plans,
  • Foundation & Structural Plans,
  • MEP Drawings,
  • And much more!!

At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand the organization of a full set of construction
    drawings,
  • Identify various parts of the plan set,
  • Interpret symbols and line types,
  • Understand some basic materials,
  • Understand the CSI Master Format,
  • Learn to do some basic onsite take-offs from drawings.

Course materials include: Full set of plans and study guide.

Classes take place Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the first weekend of the month.

Tuition: $500.00

Print Reading for Construction: Residential and Commercial, 8th Edition

Print Reading for Construction is an outstanding solution to learn and master the skill of print reading for residential and commercial construction. It is a combination text‑workbook that teaches the interpretation and visualization of construction prints, starting with the basics and progressing to advanced topics. The Large Prints folder included with the text contains 140 foldout prints (17” x 22”) from residential and commercial construction, providing students realistic, on‑the‑job applications. Electronic versions of the prints are available as PDFs, ideal for projecting in class and zooming in to magnify details. The text includes a dedicated unit on construction math and related applications.
